Release Notes: Mapt v0.8.7

We know that your core experience of Mapt begins and ends with content, so we’ve spent the last few weeks working on adding new usability features on video and eBook content within the platform. We hope these new features and updates will enhance your learning experience so you can get back to coding quickly.

New

Chromecast/Airplay Videos

If you’ve got a Chromecast or Apple TV, you might find our new video feature interesting. We’ve made it possible to stream our videos directly to your chromecast or Apple TV. So while you’re waiting for the next Game of Thrones season to come out, you can open up a bag of popcorn and cast a classic like ‘Mastering CSS‘ on your 42″ 4K TV (possibly).

Copy button on code samples

We’ve heard from a lot of users telling us how frustrating it can be to highlight a code snippet in an eBook and then copy it across into one of your projects. That’s why we’ve added the ability to quickly copy a whole snippet with the click of a button. This feature works across devices, so whether you’re on a laptop or a tablet in your projects, you will now be able to move from content to coding seamlessly.

Back ’10 seconds’ button on Videos

“Wait…what did they just say?” We’ve all been there – sometimes you just miss out on what might be a crucial piece of information, meaning you have to go back and start watching a section from scratch to make sure you pick it up. We hear your pain, which is why we’ve added the function to quickly go back 10 seconds on a video. You won’t miss an important slice of insight ever again.

Improvements

Side scrolling titles on mobile

Here’s a new improvement for mobile users; we’ve added the ability to touch scroll sideways on titles in your history and from the discover page. We’re working to develop as much of the platform as possible for mobile, and in the weeks to come we’re hoping to roll out further optimizations.

Styling improvements on eBooks

We’ve worked hard to polish the styling of our eBooks in this latest release, focusing particularly on more of the styling “edge-cases” where you might find an ordered list embedded in a numbered list and vice versa. This has involved tweaking certain nightmode styles and reducing some of the margins between text blocks to fit more content onto the page. All these changes mean reading content should become much easier.
